Bodie

Bodie is a tri-colored fellow who is around 13 years old. He found himself homeless when his owners fell on hard times and had to move into an apartment. Bodie is healthy and so ready to find a forever family.

Bodie's Sponsors

  • Danica Walker - Atlanta, GA. In honor of Jackson.
  • Melissa Legg & Rick Reeves, Portland, ME. In memory of Andy.

Buckley

Buckley is a very sweet boy who weighs in around 50 lbs. and will be 3 years old in May. He is very strong and pulls on the leash. It's best to use a harness with him because he will back out of a collar. This read & white boy needs someone who can handle him physically because of his strength. He plays well with other dogs but will chase cats. Buckley loves kids, but he can be a bit much for small kids - knocking them over. He will be neutered at a BHRG vet and needs someone with the patience to work with him on general training, potty training, and manners, but he has the potential to be a very good pup.

Buckley's Sponsors

  • Andrea White - Port Saint Joe, FL. In honor of Scarlet.
  • Christine Colborne - Ft. Myers, FL. In honor of all the BHRG Bassets I have loved who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

Buford

Buford is a tri-colored fellow who is around 8 years old. He adores kids and would really prefer a family with children. He was given up by his owners who had him since Buford was a pup. He was adopteed in 2018 but was recently returned. He's getting settled in his foster home, so we hope to have more details soon. Adoption Pending!

Buford's Sponsors

  • Eric & Susan Restin - Alpharetta, GA. In loving memory of Polly.
  • Kaitlin Moye - Columbus, GA. In memory of Riley (BHRG '14).

Duck

Duck is a red & white boy who is just under 2 years old. He showed up at a local farm and was not reclaimed by his owners. Reportedly, Duck gets along with goats, cows, and donkeys - as well as kids, cats, and other dogs! He is visiting a BHRG vet for a check-up. More information to follow. Adoption Pending!

Duck's Sponsors

  • Valerie Edwards - Suwanee, GA. In loving memory of our big boy Flopsey.

Edison

Edison is approximately 6-7 years old and is red & white. His previous owner reported that he is good with other dogs, cats and even farm animals! Edison behaves well with older kids but does not like small children. He is housebroken, dog door savvy, and crate trained. He has been checked out by a BHRG vet, and is getting settled in his foster home. Our transport volunteer said that he is very sweet, did well in the car, but is a bit camera shy. He was turned in to BHRG after his owner passed away and the family member who took him in could no longer care for him because he didn't like her younger child.

Edison's Sponsors

  • Susan, Hamp, Libby & Maribee Thornton - Plano, TX. In memory of Albert, Maggie, Hogan and Trudy (BHRG), who are all now playing together at the Rainbow Bridge.
  • "The Five" Hank, Joshua, Nessie, Gideon & Lyla Miller - Atlanta, GA. In memory of beloved Basil, Columbo, & Ellwood.

Jackson

Jackson is a beautiful black, white, and tan tri-color gentleman who was surrendered by his family when they could not afford vet care. Jackson was diagnosed with a mast cell tumor in his belly and melanoma in his mouth, and has had surgery for both. Although there is a chance for the tumors to return, Jackson has never acted sick since we have had him! Jackson is an easy going, big, derpy goofball who is very laid back, and generally likes to do his own thing. He will come to you for attention occasionally, and if you lay down in the floor with him, he will lay his big head into your chest and groan for loves. He stays in his crate at night, and knows "Get in your house!", although, he doesn't always like going. Once he is there, he stays quietly all night. He loves meal times and does the cutest happy dance and bark. Jackson would be a great dog for a family with older kids who could respect his space, and love him when he wants it. He is a great boy!

Jackson's Sponsors

  • Rita & Alex Bailon - Johns Creek, GA. In memory of our hounds at the bridge: Murphy, Gilly, Watson, Woody, and Enzo.
  • Brian & Kelley Anglin - Cumming, GA. In memory of Droopy, Muffin, Emma and Beauty.
  • Fiona Kaplan & Kyle Garwick, Atlanta, GA. In honor of our adopted basset Gatsby (formerly Tater), who we can't imagine life without!

Marcus

Marcus a.k.a. "Max" says, "Hi! My name is Magnificent Max... I am 17 years old and loving life... I was adopted by a nice family from BHRG in 2006 but they were having some tough times and asked if they could bring me back so I would find a great new family! Could that be you? Currently taking applications for new humans!"

Max is an amazing hound who only wants/needs to have a warm bed, yummy food and full water bowl. He is house trained with a doggie door and has not had any accidents in my home (***). Neutered, up to date on all shots and on preventatives. He even just had his dental exam. Since he walked into my house, he has been both a joy and a pleasure as well as a complete snuggly boy who would love nothing more than to lay by your side on the couch and have his belly rubbed. He is great with his sister and brother hounds and hasn't shown any aggression with anything. He is very submissive and steps back if an alpha shows his colors. I do not know if he has any experience with cats as I do not have any in my home. Children, no problem! What an amazing companion he would make for a retired couple! Max is good with all situations; he just wants to be loved!

Even though Max is 17, he shows no signs of slowing down. He gets very excited for treats and will dance for you. While he is eager to get his treat, he takes it gently. Of course, he is a wee bit wobbly when he gets up from naps and his hips need to warm up. I wouldn't recommend lots of steps for this happy hound as he is a senior but has no trouble getting up on the couch with his stairs as long as there is a possibility of a belly rub. He has no food restrictions and likes everything I feed him. Grain Free is what we serve and he is a happy camper! Max does drink a lot of water but there aren't any underlying issues associated with that... he just likes to drink water!

Storms and Fear... ***one very special thing about Max is he is terrified of Thunder/Lightning/Rain Storms/Fireworks. He has a fear that I have never experienced in a hound and needs more than just a little kindness and care... I watch the weather every morning and night to see if we will have rain, etc. Sometimes with a loud thunder clap, he pees right where he is sitting and then hangs his head as if to say, "I'm sorry". He is truly a humble hound. He gets a very specific med for his fear so he can relax and lay down next to you. It is very hard to watch him go thru this until his meds kick in but I hold him tight and reassure him. The fear is very real to him and he needs a family that will understand his special needs! Please let us know if you are interested! He's Magnificent!!!!!
