He has been checked out by a BHRG vet and is ready for adoption. He is charming his foster family and learning the ropes of indoor living and playing with his foster siblings.

Colby's Sponsors

Doc

Doc is a tri-colored fellow who is 7 to 8 years old. He came to BHRG after being hit by a car and had infection in his jaw. After months of antibiotics, our BHRG vet partner has determined he will not require surgery. The new bone is continuing to grow and knit over the the area they once considered permanently removing. He is gaining weight slowly but surely, and we are expecting that to ramp up now that his pain is significantly decreased from healing. It should be noted that while physically he is recovering better than we ever anticipated, he is still plagued with severe anxiety. He wants to trust, but is still overridden with fear. He's doing really well in his foster home. Please keep praying he will continue to gain weight and his anxiety will begin to subside now that most of the physical pain is gone.

Doc's Sponsors

  • Brian & Daria Cetti - Savannah, GA. In honor of our BHRG basset Roxie (Estelle) who passed from lymphoma December 2013.
  • Andy Bennett - Smyrna, GA. In honor of BHRG's previous adopters.
  • Jacqueline Bass - Roswell, GA. In memory of Henry, our sweet snarfully man.

Rider

Rider is a tri-colored boy who was found as a stray in east Georgia. Here's what he has to say... "Rider here. I am a 4-year-old basset that loves to play and explore the world. I like having another dog to hang out with - especially one that would match my rough and tumble play style. I do have severe allergies and have to take medicine as well as take shots twice a week. I can be quite grumpy about them. I am slow to warm up to people and do not trust everyone but just give me time to get to know you and that I can trust you. While I can be moody and like my own space, there are times when I am an extreme snuggle bug and you can't keep me away."

Rider's Sponsors

  • Bruce Mlott - Peachtree Corners, GA. In loving memory of Doug and Happy.
  • Karin & Scott Samuel, Cumming, GA. In honor of Rufus & Lucy, in memory of Reagan (BHRG rescue 2004).
  • Todd, Paige, Kenzie, & Elijah Freeman - Macon, GA. In memory of our beloved Sunshine.
You can also sponsor a Basset Hound in need through our Georgia Peach program.

River

River needs a foster home! This tri-colored boy is just a year old. He came to BHRG from south Georgia and has been checked out by a BHRG vet. He is waiting for the right foster home at a local kennel. River is very skittish and needs a family to take him through socialization training. More information coming soon.

River's Sponsors

  • Brenda Keefe - Woodstock, GA. In memory of Harley and Shenzi, our rescue dogs who have passed on...we miss you so much.
