Brutus

Brutus is a red & white fellow who is getting settled in his foster home. He found himself all alone after his owner passed. We're told he is around 10 years old. He may move a little slow, his eyes may be getting milky, and his ears hear what they want, but his snooter is still on point! Any spot you touch on him is a tickle spot, and he just leans into you for a hug. Brutus will melt your heart!

He has been checked out by a BHRG vet and is ready for adoption. He is charming his foster family and learning the ropes of indoor living and playing with his foster siblings.

Doc

Doc is a tri-colored fellow who is 7 to 8 years old. He came to BHRG after being hit by a car and had infection in his jaw. After months of antibiotics, our BHRG vet partner has determined he will not require surgery. The new bone is continuing to grow and knit over the the area they once considered permanently removing. He is gaining weight slowly but surely, and we are expecting that to ramp up now that his pain is significantly decreased from healing. It should be noted that while physically he is recovering better than we ever anticipated, he is still plagued with severe anxiety. He wants to trust, but is still overridden with fear. He's doing really well in his foster home. Please keep praying he will continue to gain weight and his anxiety will begin to subside now that most of the physical pain is gone.

Doc's Sponsors

  • Brian & Daria Cetti - Savannah, GA. In honor of our BHRG basset Roxie (Estelle) who passed from lymphoma December 2013.
  • Andy Bennett - Smyrna, GA. In honor of BHRG's previous adopters.

  • Heather & Colin Rochford - Marietta, GA. In honor of Hank.

He is working on specialized socialization training with his foster mom and is making great strides. He enjoyed watching the Olympics with his foster family this summer. With River, slow and steady wins the race. Thurston Howl

Thurston is a red and white boy who is now getting settled in foster care. Here's what he has to say! "Hello! I'm Thurston Howl or TH to my friends. I am a young hound about 1 and a half with lots of energy and a love of playtime. Fetching a ball and chasing toys around the house are among my favorite games. I also need a walk each day for my exercise. I can live with another dog but need a strong dog that can put me in my place. Otherwise, I can play a bit too rough, and I don’t mean to be a bully. I can be a bit of a moody dog and do not like to be bothered when I am resting or sleeping. I do have a loud houndy bark that I use to show my displeasure with things that are not going my way or that are scary to me. I can also be over reactive to things that are not going my way. Every morning I get eye drops that I take for dry eye and will take for the rest of my life. If you think I would be perfect for you, let's set up a play date to meet in person."

Thurston's Sponsors

  • Charlie Hill - Decatur, GA. In memory of Duchess, Duke, and Mitzi.
  • Catherine Bonk - Atlanta, GA. In memory of Lorelei.
  • Suzy James - Milford, NJ. In memory of Julienne Vard who loved Bassets.
  • Tamala & Thomas Malerk - Lakeland, FL. In memory of Otto VonBark (BHRG Lash 2016).
